Memento Mori uses the symbolism of insects, shells, and flowers to signify death, decay and fertility. Flowers represent life, the gold leaf signifies wealth and what will be left behind, shells represent fertility, and insects symbolize decay. I am interested in death as a subject matter because it is a reminder of the fragility of life.

The Rebirth installation is a symbol of hope, the use of the flower signifies renewal. Whatever form of oppression a society, culture, individual or nationality is experiencing they can survive and strive. Memory is an important aspect to this installation because the memory of the past and traditions are important to the concept of society, culture, individualism, nationality and religion. This work was inspired in part by my own cultural identity and World War Two.
