Using symbolism to express different female stereotypes I am interested in portraying internalized messages and expectations. These pieces deal with ideas of fertility, aging, metamorphosis and sexual desirability.

Using the background for the symbols represents the internal messages being subconsciously received through the media and other sources.

Fish and Fruit deal with ideas of fertility, and external expectations.

Flora and Danae are about consent, I reference Greek mythology to deal with contemporary issues and attitudes surrounding rape culture.

Nymphalidae refers to the largest family of butterflies. I titled the piece after the family because all the background butterflies are referenced from the category and because of the play on words referring to Nymphs. Again referring to Greek Mythology, sexual desirability, fantasy and rape stories where nymphs are attacked in the forest.
